MY CLASS AND THE CREATIVE PROCESS
My practice is an exploration of human connections, individual expression, trauma pathways and social struggles in the current society. My approach includes a movement exploration based on improvisation tasks, that dives into experimenting different dynamics, movement qualities and mindfulness. My style includes elements of release technique, dynamic floorwork, contact improvisation, with the focus of the relationship between body and space, body awareness and sensations. The creative process is collaborative with the collective. Through a series of images, description of feeling and choreographic phrases, I explain the concept and the ideas to the artists, to then discuss it together to bring the individual perspectives and experiences into the creation. The collaboration becomes an integral component of the creative process, through demonstration, direction, experimentation, and discussion. The dancers learn to connect to their sensations and to elaborate conscious movement as a group and as individual.
CLASSES
FLOORWORK
Unleash your inner animal!
Floorwork is a practice that uses elements from contemporary dance, gymnastics, yoga and breakdance to travel in, out, around, and across the floor. It requires a strength and good control of our centre to move in and out the floor. Using the gravity and directing our movement from our centre, we create a continuous flow of `hold and release` of different body parts into the space. The body will learn to let it go, lean, relax on the floor and to use it as point of support to push and balance. The class is structured with a fun floor warm up, strength exercises, drills, and a choreographic phrase (a mix of elements studied during class). This practice can be taught to different levels or to beginners, intermediated, advanced or open level.
GUIDED IMPROVISATION
Be whoever you wish and let it flow!
Using creative tasks to improvise and let it go on any judgments, this practice is directed to anyone interested in exploring movements outside the box and taking risks of creating new possibilities and new ways of movements. There’s no right or wrong, every choice during the improvisation class is accepted. We will use images, colours, sensations, and words to create and improvise as we like. This class is fun and can be taught as open level class.
CONTEMPORARY DANCE TECHNIQUE
This practice includes centering, alignment, gravity, contraction, release, and suspension. Starting with a fun improvisation warm up, the class will progress into more technical exercises standing up, with short transition in and out the floor. The class is great for those who need to refresh, learn, or refine their technique in a relaxed and fun space.
