FRANCESCA GOZDEK

PERFORMER, CHOREOGRAPHER, DIRECTOR, TEACHER

Francesca Gozdek is an independent choreographer, producer, artistic director of the Australian company Interchange Dance Project, and founder of FreeForm.

Her Artistic background has structured over time between Australia and Europe, through the study and research of different practices and techniques. Her research brought her to develop works on screen, on stage and as site specific performance. She produced three short dance films since 2019, ‘Somnia’, ‘Edge’ and ‘Train Escape’. In 2020 she choreographed and directed ‘In Motion,’ a site-specific performance on Patonga River, in Central Coast, Australia. In 2021 she produced Train Escape as an experimental dance film and short work, performed in theatres in Sydney and at Florence Dance Festival in Italy during 2022. She organised, planned and coordinated the company’s tour to Italy, offering international work opportunities to Australian dancers. The film Train Escape was also selected to be screened in Romania in collaboration with ‘DeLa Zero’, at ‘Danca em Foco’ film festival in Brazil and as semi finalist at ‘Inspired Dance Film Festival’ In Australia.

In addition to being a director, producer and choreographer, she is a contemporary dance lecturer, dance teacher, dance artist and event organiser. Francesca has worked with the Australian company Twisted Element, performing immersive and interactive contemporary dance theatre productions across Sydney and in the region of New South Wales (2016-2021). Other credits includes: Fringe Festival, March Dance, The Other Art Fair, Pact Theatre. She has also worked with the filmmaker ‘Benjamin Fraser’ in numerous short films and music videos. As contemporary dance lecturer and teacher, she worked for Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Sydney and The McDonald College, exposing undergraduates to different contemporary dance methodologies (release technique, dynamic floorwork, guided improvisation, creation and composition), grading assignment, and using variety of movement qualities, contemporary dance methodologies, and support materials to facilitate learning process and accentuate presentations. She also organises cultural, artistic and multidisciplinary events, bringing together different art forms, movement, holistic practices, fashion and lifestyle. Founder of Freeform, a series of workshops and retreats that combines art, movement and wellness across Europe and Australia, she is eager to offer unique experiences for anyone. Francesca works with dancers, performers, movers, students, adults with/without experiences and holistic communities.


Dance and movement are for everyone, and I want to make them accessible for you all. I am here to share my knowledge and my passion towards this beautiful art form, help you to learn new skills, improve your technique and guide you through meditative improvisation sessions.
